New Delhi witnessed a grand showcase of linguistic and cultural unity as the Bharat Express Urdu Conclave, organised under the banner of Bazm-e-Sahafat, brought together prominent political leaders, literary figures and senior officials.
The event, supported by the Delhi Urdu Academy under the Department of Art, Culture and Language, received widespread appreciation for its unique commitment to promoting Urdu.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Minister Kapil Mishra, Bharat Express News Network’s CMD and Editor-in-Chief Upendrra Rai, and several senior leaders, including Shahnawaz Hussain, attended the gathering, which ran from 10 AM to 10 PM with multiple engaging sessions.
Addressing the audience, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain warmly congratulated CMD Upendrra Rai and the Bharat Express team for organising an event dedicated to strengthening Urdu. He said that Bharat Express had undertaken a commendable effort to promote the language.
Hussain remarked that people now use Urdu in everyday conversation, including those who once opposed it. He emphasised its cultural significance and stated that Urdu forms an inseparable part of India’s heritage and that no one can diminish it.
He added that he himself had introduced Urdu newspapers at airports, noting that challenges exist not only for Urdu but for Hindi as well. Hussain urged that the responsibility of nurturing Urdu should not rest solely with one community, but with all Indians.
He further recalled that former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj often used Urdu in the Lok Sabha, reinforcing its broad cultural acceptance.
Bharat Express News Network CMD Upendrra Rai reflected on his long association with Delhi, recalling his first visit to the capital in January 1997. He observed that the city has transformed remarkably since then and praised Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for her grassroots engagement and encouragement of active governance.
CMD Rai commended the Delhi government for its fast-paced mission and lauded Minister Kapil Mishra for his forward-looking vision and support for innovative ideas.
