Mahakumbh: First Amrit Snan Begins In Prayagraj On Makar Shakranti

The Prayagraj Mahakumbh began with the successful Paush Purnima bathing festival. The sacred Amrit Snan started today, on Makar Sankranti, with all preparations in place.

The Prayagraj Mahakumbh began with the successful Paush Purnima bathing festival. The sacred Amrit Snan started today, on Makar Sankranti, with all preparations in place.

This year, the Maha Snan or Shahi Snan is called Amrit Snan. The Mahakumbh Mela administration organized the sequence for the 13 Akharas of Sanatan Dharma. Each Akhara followed its customs and set timings.

Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani and Shri Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara started the Amrit Snan at 5:15 a.m. They completed their bath and returned by 7:55 a.m. Shri Taponidhi Panchayati Shri Niranjani Akhara and Shri Panchayati Akhara Anand began at 6:05 a.m.

The Sanyasi Akharas, including Shri Panchdashnam Juna Akhara, followed at 8:00 a.m. The Bairagi Akharas started with All India Shri Panch Nirmohi Ani Akhara at 9:40 a.m.

Udasin Akharas, such as Shri Panchayati Naya Udasin Akhara, took their turn from 12:15 p.m. Shri Panchayati Nirmal Akhara was the last, beginning at 3:40 p.m.

The same sequence will continue during Basant Panchami. Mahant Acharya Devendra Singh Shastri confirmed the arrangements. The schedule ensures a smooth and traditional bathing ceremony for all Akharas.

The Mahakumbh unites faith and tradition with detailed planning and devotion.
