The event, spanning 45 days, attracted over 66 crore devotees, nearly half of India’s population. At its peak, Maha Kumbh Nagar became the third most populated place globally, following India and China, highlighting the sheer scale of the event.

In addition to movement routes, dedicated parking zones were strategically placed for devotees arriving from different directions, preventing traffic congestion.

Maha Kumbh 2025: A Scale Like No Other

When compared to other major global events, such as Hajj in Mecca and Brazil’s Carnival, Maha Kumbh 2025’s scale remains unparalleled. While Hajj and Carnival manage crowds of 20 to 25 lakh visitors at their peak, Maha Kumbh saw a daily influx of up to 1.75 crore devotees, with the peak reaching 8 crore on Mauni Amavasya. On several occasions, the crowd exceeded 5 crore, and 30 days recorded gatherings of over 1 crore devotees.
