Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh government has escalated efforts against cow smuggling and slaughtering across the state.
Recent actions have seen significant strides in enforcing laws aimed at protecting cattle and preventing illegal activities related to their trade.
In the past month alone, authorities have registered nearly 600 cases related to cattle smuggling, resulting in the arrest of over 1,100 individuals, according to official sources.
The authorities have intensified the crackdown, implementing stringent measures that include invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against alleged offenders.
Notably, authorities recently booked four individuals, two from Morena and two from Seoni, under the NSA for their involvement in cow smuggling and slaughtering activities.
Government’s Vigorous Enforcement Of Anti-Cow Slaughter Laws
The government underscored its commitment to enforce anti-cow slaughter laws with swift administrative actions in Seoni district, where they recently discovered over 60 cow carcasses.
Meanwhile, in response, Seoni’s Superintendent of Police Rakesh Kumar, and Collector Kshitij Singhal were promptly removed from their positions.
As per reports, Sanskriti Jain is the new Collector and Sunil Kumar is the new SP of Seoni, signaling zero tolerance for lapses in law enforcement.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav however reaffirmed the government’s stance. He emphasized strict adherence to the Anti-Cow Slaughtering Act across all districts.
“The Anti-Cow Slaughtering Act is already in place in Madhya Pradesh, and we have instructed all district administrations to ensure rigorous enforcement,” stated CM Yadav.
Furthermore, he further disclosed the dispatch of an ADG-level committee to investigate recent incidents, promising further actions based on the committee’s findings.
Meanwhile, the ongoing operation has yielded substantial results, with over 7,000 cows rescued from illegal possession in the past month alone.
Police further highlighted Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara, Barwani, Khargone, Burhanpur, Ujjain, Ratlam, and Neemuch districts as hotspots for cattle smuggling incidents.
“This special operation against cow smuggling will continue unabated. Those found guilty will face appropriate legal consequences,” CM Yadav asserted.
