Lucknow: Service of 2090 ad-hoc teachers terminated

This year is was a black Diwali for 2090 ad-hoc teachers appointed in aided secondary schools since August 7,1993, as ther service has been terminated by the state government.

In this regard Additional Director Secondary Education, Surendra Kumar Tiwari has issued guidelines in this regard on November 10. According to the order of the Supreme Court dated December 7, 2021 in the case of Sanjay Singh, it is not appropriate to pay salaries to ad-hoc teachers from the treasury

On the order of the Supreme Court itself dated ,August 26, 2020, ad-hoc teachers were  given a chance in the TGT-PGT 2021 teacher recruitment examination of Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board.

In which only 40 ad-hoc teachers were successful. Therefore, it is not the responsibility of the state government to pay the salaries of the remaining teachers. In the light of the order of the Supreme Court, it is the responsibility of the management to pay such ad-hoc teachers. His appointment was against the rules.

It is noteworthy that from August 7, 1993 to December 30, 2000, 979 teachers and 1111 after 2000, a total of 2090 teachers were appointed ad-hoc. A proposal to hire ad-hoc teachers on fixed honorarium was sent to the government by the Secondary Education Department.

In the three formulas that were suggested for keeping them on honorarium, the annual expenditure on the government was estimated to be Rs 120 crore to Rs 241 crore, but the government also rejected the proposal to keep them on honorarium and terminated their services.
