Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju announced on Wednesday that a special 10-day session of the Lok Sabha will commence on 24 June.
This session will primarily focus on crucial parliamentary procedures including the oath or affirmation of newly elected Members, the election of the Speaker, and the President’s Address along with ensuing discussions.
Minister Rijiju took to social media platform X to unveil the schedule for the upcoming session.
According to his announcement, the Lok Sabha session will run from 24 June to 3 July, providing ample time for the mandated procedures and discussions.
In addition to the Lok Sabha proceedings, the Rajya Sabha will convene its session starting on 27 June and concluding on 3 July, ensuring alignment with the Lok Sabha’s schedule.
Rijiju Highlights Parliamentary Significance & National Duty
Rijiju emphasized the significance of these parliamentary activities in his post. He stated, “The First Session of the 18th Lok Sabha, summoning from 24.6.24 to 3.7.24, will involve the oath/affirmation of newly elected Members, Election of Speaker, President’s Address, and discussion thereon. 264th Session of Rajya Sabha will commence on 27.6.24 and conclude on 3.7.24.”
Furthermore, he underscored the responsibility of the elected representatives towards serving the nation.
Rijiju asserted, “The people of India have decided, and it’s our ‘sacred duty’ to serve the nation. Parliament offers the perfect platform for discussing, debating, and delivering to fulfill the aspirations of 140 crore Indians.”

Meanwhile, the upcoming session holds particular importance as it marks the initial stages of the 18th Lok Sabha and sets the tone for legislative activities to come.
