Terrorist killed in J&K's Baramullah
Just a day after when five Indian Army personnel were killed in an IED blast plotted by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, there has been fresh firing reported in the Baramulla region. During the firing, a terrorist of LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) was killed in a separate encounter that broke out today i.e. on Saturday.
One terrorist encountered in J&K’s Baramullah
According to the Kashmir Zone police, the encounter started at the Karhama Kunzer area of Baramulla.

Amidst the ongoing operation, the Indian Army has increased security in the area.

Fresh firing reported in Rajouri district
Meanwhile, the counter-terror operation in the Kandi forest in Rajouri, in which five soldiers have been killed in the action, is still underway.
Speaking to the media about the recent cross-firing, the defence spokesperson, Lt Col Devender Anand said that the contact with terrorists was established at 1.15 am on Saturday and the firing was exchanged.
On Friday, almost five Indian Army jawans were martyred and one officer was injured and was rushed to the hospital, in a terror ambush in the Rajouri’s Kandi forest area.
As per the media reports, four of the soldiers killed on Friday were commandos from the 9 Para (Special Forces) while the fifth was from a Rashtriya Rifles battalion. The army identified them as Havildar Neelam Singh from Akhnoor, Naik Arvind Kumar from Palampur, Lance Naik Ruchin Singh Rawat from Gairsain in Uttarakhand, Paratrooper Siddhant Chettri from Darjeeling, and Paratrooper Pramod Negi from Sirmaur in Himachal Pradesh.
The officials said, “Three more soldiers who were injured earlier have unfortunately succumbed to their injuries. A total of five soldiers have lost their lives in the joint operation in Rajouri, J&K.”

Major terror attacks in recent days
This is the second major loss that the army has suffered in the last two weeks. On April 20, five soldiers were killed when an army truck they were travelling in was ambushed by terrorists at Bhata Durian in Poonch.
After killing the soldiers, the terrorists set the truck on fire and decamped with the weapons of the fallen army personnel.
Amid the terror attack in the area, a major manhunt was launched in the Poonch-Rajouri region. According to police officials, around a dozen heavily armed terrorists are present in the region.
During a large-scale crackdown, the police detained over 200 people for questioning and arrested at least six persons for helping terrorists responsible for the attack on the army truck. This led to resentment among locals and a villager died by suicide alleging torture by the police.
