Leader of Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi faced backlash from political leaders hailing from royal lineage over a column in Newspaper. Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Diya Kumari took to the microblogging platform X to register her resentment over Gandhi’s article that claimed East India company silenced ‘Maharajas’ and ‘Nawabs’ of India by ‘bribing’ them.
Rahul Gandhi, in a column of a newspaper, wrote, “The company (East India company) choked India by Partnering with, bribing, and threatening our more pliant Maharajas and Nawabs.”
Criticizing Gandhi over the claim, Diya Kumari, in an X post said that it is an attempt to malign erstwhile royal families. She stated, “I strongly condemn Mr RahulGandhi’s attempt to malign the erstwhile royal families of India in an editorial today.”

Union Minister for Communication and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiradiya M Scindia resonated with Diya’s thought and hit out at Rahul Gandhi. Calling Gandhi ignorant our India’s rich cultural heritage, Scindia described him of colonial Mindset.
Jyotiraditya Scindia wrote on X, “If you claim to ‘uplift’ the nation, stop insulting Bharat Mata and learn about true Indian heroes like Mahadji Scindia, Yuvraj Bir Tikendrajit, Kittur Chennamma, and Rani Velu Nachiyar, who fiercely fought for our freedom.”
