Lawyer Writes To CJI Urging Early Hearing Into Deadly Stampede In Hathras

Advocate Arun Bhansali had moved to Allahabad High Court demanding CBI or judicial investigation into the deadly stampede in Hathras. The High Court is yet to entertain the plea.

Demanding early hearing into deadly stampede in Hathras, lawyer Vishal Tiwari has written to CJI Chandrachud on July 8. Notably Tiwari has filed a petition in Supreme Court urging investigation into catastrophic event by 5 member committee in supervision of SC.

In the letter, Tiwari said that as the matter is serious the hearing should be scheduled early. The petitioner, early in petition demanded SC to issue guideline to all the Indian State to prevent such horrific incidents in future. Along with this the petition also demands a status report from the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh.

The petition has also urged for legal action against the responsible authorities. Another plea with similar demands has been filed in Allahabad High Court also.

It is worth noting that SIT has submitted its report to the state government. The investigation, headed by ADG Agra and Aligarh Commissioner has taken statements of 100 people including DM-SSP.

Chief Minister order the investigation after the incident took place in the afternoon of July 2. The report includes the statements of number of people who witnessed the horrific incident from different angles.

It included statement from every police and employee-officer of all other departments deployed at the incident spot, personnel with initial information, ambulance personnel, doctors, doctors doing post-mortem, farmers, eyewitnesses, injured, tehsil and district level officers, DM-SP etc.
