New Delhi, Sep 1: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has strongly criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the recent rape and murder case of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. Chouhan stated that Banerjee will face consequences for her handling of the situation.
Chouhan Accuses Banerjee of Suppressing the Issue
In an interview with IANS, Chouhan condemned Banerjee’s response to the case. He said, “Mamata Didi has become stone-hearted. It’s incomprehensible that as a woman, she can be so indifferent while many daughters are suffering.” He accused the West Bengal government of trying to suppress the issue, citing false information given to the victim’s parents, delayed filing of the FIR, and evidence destruction.
Chouhan emphasized that this injustice would not go unnoticed and warned, “The entire country is hurt, and women in West Bengal feel insulted. Mamata Didi will have to face the consequences.”
Chouhan Discusses BJP Strategy in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh Initiatives
Regarding Jharkhand politics, where Champai Soren recently joined the BJP, Chouhan clarified that Soren had not set conditions for leadership. “He has joined the BJP to save Jharkhand and fight against the exploitation of local resources,” Chouhan explained. He added that the BJP has strong leadership across all communities and is working hard to secure a significant victory.
Chouhan also addressed the success of the Lakhpati Didis scheme, which he initiated. He noted that the scheme has become widely adopted, with one crore women already benefiting. “Our Prime Minister has pledged to uplift women economically. We aim to make three crore women Lakhpatis, and we are working towards that goal,” he said.
