Kolkata Doctor Had Multiple Injuries, All Inflicted Before Death

The post-mortem report of the woman doctor from R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, who was raped and murdered on August 9, reveals that she had sustained 14 injuries. Sources indicate that all these injuries were inflicted before her death.

The report details multiple injuries across various parts of her body, including the head, cheeks, lips, nose, right jaw, chin, neck, left arm, left shoulder, left knee, ankle, and inside the genitalia. Additionally, haemorrhage was found in the lungs, with blood clots observed in other body parts. A white, thick, viscid liquid was also present inside the genitalia. The report concludes that her death resulted from manual strangulation combined with smothering, identifying the manner of death as homicidal.

Medical evidence of forceful penetration indicates sexual assault. This aligns with the claims of protesting medical students and junior doctors, suggesting that the brutal rape and murder involved multiple perpetrators rather than a single individual.

Currently, only one suspect, civic volunteer Sanjay Roy, has been detained. Roy was arrested by Kolkata Police and subsequently handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The CBI took over the case following an order from the Calcutta High Court.

The CBI is actively investigating to identify other suspects involved in the crime. They are questioning several individuals, including Sandip Ghosh, the former and controversial principal of R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital. Ghosh has undergone a lengthy interrogation at the CBI’s Salt Lake office, spanning 12 to 13 hours over the past three days.
