A robotics startup from Kochi gained international recognition during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Norway, signalling a major boost for India’s deep-tech sector. The trip marked the first dedicated visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Nordic country in more than 40 years.
With backing from Kerala Startup Mission, the company participated in the India–Norway CEOs Roundtable and a high-level business and research summit in Oslo. Its involvement placed Kerala’s growing startup ecosystem alongside some of the world’s top maritime and technology firms.
The firm’s co-founder and Chief Technology Officer outlined a comprehensive plan to enhance bilateral collaboration in marine technologies and underwater robotics.
The proposal centred on creating an ‘India–Norway Marine Tech Innovation Corridor’ to advance joint research in subsea engineering, deep-tech solutions, and environmentally sustainable shipping.
The initiative also proposed joint research programmes, partnerships to expand market access, and shared innovation platforms between Indian and Norwegian stakeholders. It further identified opportunities in aquaculture, port infrastructure upgrades, AI-based marine surveillance, and predictive maintenance for subsea assets.
Why Norway Matters for the Partnership
The company emphasised that Norway’s strengths in offshore engineering, aquaculture, and green shipping make it a strong strategic partner.
Experts noted that the participation of a Kerala-based startup in such a high-profile diplomatic setting reflects the transformation of India’s innovation ecosystem.

The head of Kerala Startup Mission described the development as a landmark moment, signalling global acknowledgement of Indian entrepreneurial capabilities.
Based in Kochi, the startup designs sophisticated underwater drones for inspecting and maintaining vital marine infrastructure. It recently secured a ₹47 crore deal with the Indian Navy, strengthening its industry standing.
Additionally, the company has developed an AI-driven platform, EVAP, to enable advanced marine analytics and predictive asset management, showcasing Kerala’s growing influence in cutting-edge blue economy technologies.
The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to deepen India–Norway ties while opening new pathways for cooperation in deep-tech and maritime sectors. This engagement is likely to accelerate global opportunities for Indian startups and reinforce their role in advanced technology ecosystems.
