Key Meeting Led by JS MoRD Smriti Sharan
An important meeting of the Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission (LRLM) was held under the chairmanship of Joint Secretary (JS) MoRD, Smriti Sharan. During this meeting, strategies for advancing community development and livelihood improvement in the Ladakh region were discussed. The Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission (LRLM) operates under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Officials and department representatives extensively discussed the progress of the mission during the meeting.
Presentations During the Meeting
Representatives provided insights into the objectives of the Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission for 2023-24 during the meeting. Presentations were made on various aspects, including human resource development, geographical coverage, MOU signings, and more. The presentations encompassed efforts related to community-based organizations (CBO), social mobilization campaigns, action plans, financial inclusion, and initiatives concerning nutrition, health, and hygiene.
Emphasis on Agricultural Livelihood
The meeting highlighted a strong focus on agricultural livelihood in Ladakh. Discussions in the meeting revolved around challenges and opportunities with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in key centers, as well as the significance of organizational strength. The meeting also addressed development work in Ladakh villages.
It’s worth noting that discussions were also held on government partnerships and cooperation with other states to strengthen and make LRLM more convenient. Plans for improving communication and outreach were in progress. Special attention was given to the Ladakh Development Initiative for enhancing agricultural livelihood. The meeting included Secretary RDD, Amit Sharma, along with Director of Rural Development Department, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain; ADC Leh, Sonam Norboo; NMMU team, SPM, DPM, DMM Leh, and other esteemed LRLM officials.
