On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for consistently avoiding summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), suggesting that he is apprehensive about arrest due to his alleged involvement as the “mastermind” behind an excise scam.
Kejriwal chose not to appear before the ED for the fourth time, questioning the issuance of summonses when he claims not to be an accused in the Delhi excise policy scam. BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, asserted that Kejriwal’s failure to appear before the ED indicates his nervousness and anticipation of arrest, asserting that he is the central figure in the excise policy scam.

Bhatia justified the ED’s summonses to Kejriwal and questioned why the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader opts to write letters and avoid appearances rather than challenging the summonses in court. Accusing Kejriwal of sweating and trembling in fear during winter, Bhatia referenced incarcerated former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, suggesting they are waiting for Kejriwal to join them behind bars.
The BJP spokesperson asserted that it now appears inevitable that the alleged mastermind of the liquor scam will face imprisonment. Bhatia confidently claimed that Kejriwal is aware of his involvement in a multi-crore rupee scam and that his future looks grim.
In a stern warning, Bhatia reminded Kejriwal that he is not above the law and cautioned that while individuals facing accusations or summonses may temporarily evade the legal system, survival is not guaranteed. The spokesperson concluded by affirming that Kejriwal will not escape the consequences of his actions.
