Kannur: Pregnant Wife, Husband Dead As Car Caught Fire
Kannur: A heart-wrenching incident took place in Kerala’s Kannur, a pregnant woman with her husband were burnt alive as their 2020 model, Maruti S-Presso car caught fire on their way to the hospital on Thursday.

26 years-old pregnant Woman, Reesha and her husband Prijith, 35, were rushing towards a district hospital after she complained of labour pain, said the police official.
According to the police, six people were travelling in their Maruti S-Presso car. Four in the backseat, including a child, escaped but the couple in the front couldn’t open the doors and were trapped when the car caught fire.
By the time firemen and police officials reached the spot, Parijith and Reesha were dead. People at the spot said that they tried to save the couple but they couldn’t.

In a viral video on Twitter, it showcased the disturbing visuals of the tragic incident. It showed the car in flames and creams could be heard from within.

A few locals could be seen running towards it. However, they backed off, afraid that the car would explode.
Speaking to the media, a witness said, “We were totally helpless at that time as the front side of the car was immediately engulfed in fire. We could not do much to save them as we feared that the oil tank of the car would explode any time.”
The other passengers were rushed to the hospital.
Taking notes from the incident, the Police Commissioner of Kannur, “They are not injured. They are in the hospital and they are getting checked.”
The reason is yet not known why the car caught fire, the police said.
Further, the police said, “The car will be properly examined with the help of experts. Let us investigate a little more and then we will be able to get a clear picture.”
