In a recent development, authorities have tightened security around Ballari Jail to prevent gatherings of Kannada superstar Darshan’s fans. This move follows the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court’s decision to transfer Darshan from Bengaluru Central Prison to Bellary Central Jail.

The court issued the transfer order on Tuesday, prompted by a photograph that surfaced on social media. The image showed Darshan socializing with three individuals, including a known rowdy sheeter, in the prison’s lawns. This prompted concerns over the conditions at Bengaluru Central Prison.

Additionally, Darshan’s partner, Pavithra Gowda, the prime accused alongside Darshan, will remain at Bengaluru Central Prison. Authorities will relocated other associates in the case—Pavan, Raghavendra, and Nandeesh— to Mysuru Prison. Jagadish and Laxmana are to be sent to Shivamogga Jail, Dhanraj to Dharwad Jail, Vinay to Vijayapura Jail, Nagaraj to Kalaburagi Jail, and Pradoosh to Belagavi Jail. Anukumar and Deepak will stay at Bengaluru Central Prison.

Earlier, authorities had moved four accused—Ravi, Karthik, Nikhil, and Keshava Murthy— to Tumakuru Prison. Following the controversy over luxury treatment for Darshan, authorities suspended two jailers and five other prison staff members, filled three FIRs. Three special teams are investigating these allegations.

On Wednesday, the 24th ACMM court extended the judicial custody of Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and 15 other accused until September 9. The prosecution argued for the continuation of custody, citing concerns that granting bail might threaten the deceased fan’s family. The police also noted that witness statements are still pending and warned of potential evidence tampering if the accused receives bail.

The case centers around the brutal murder of Darshan’s fan, Renukaswamy, who died of torture. In Addition, Criminals discarded his body in a canal. The crime came to light when security personnel noticed dogs dragging the body.
