Jyotiraditya Scindia To Lay Foundation Stone For Adani’s Rs 2,500 Crore Defence Plant In MP

Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia will lay the foundation stone on Sunday for the Adani Group’s Rs 2,500 crore defence manufacturing plant in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh.

The project will reinforce the state’s growing stature as a prominent defence manufacturing destination.

The facility aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. It aims to enhance indigenous defence production while strengthening India’s self-reliance in strategic manufacturing.

The project will create nearly 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities. It will also integrate local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) into the expanding defence manufacturing supply chain.

The statement said the project reflects Scindia’s sustained efforts to attract major investments to the Gwalior-Chambal region, which is steadily evolving into a significant defence manufacturing cluster.

The upcoming Shivpuri facility will complement the Adani Group’s existing Small Arms Complex.

Together, both facilities will establish a comprehensive defence manufacturing ecosystem across the region.

Construction is expected to conclude within three years, after which commercial production will commence.

More than 25 local MSMEs already support the Adani Group’s Small Arms Complex in Gwalior. The new project will create more opportunities for ancillary industries.

The Gwalior facility earlier supplied the first batch of ‘Prahar’ Light Machine Guns (LMGs) to the Indian Army 11 months ahead of schedule. It has already created around 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.

The Shivpuri project joins several major industrial investments in the Gwalior-Chambal region, including a jacket manufacturing unit at Badarwas and a Rs 1,059 crore cement grinding unit in Guna, further accelerating industrial development across the region.
