In a significant development in the ongoing efforts to curb terrorism in the region, Jammu & Kashmir Police on Thursday announced the attachment of properties belonging to five Pakistan-based Kashmiri terror handlers.
Under court orders, authorities seized properties valued at crores of rupees in Baramulla district.
According to officials familiar with the operation, the attached properties include 9 Kanals of land, identified as belonging to the following individuals operating from Pakistan:
- Bashir Ahmad Ganie (son of Ghulam Ahmad, resident of Tilgam),
- Mehraj-ud-din Lone (son of Fata Mohd, resident of Khargam),
- Ghulam Mohd Yatoo (son of Gh Ahmad, resident of Tilgam),
- Abdul Rehman Bhat (son of Mohd Subhan, resident of Wanigam Payeen), and
- Abdul Rashid Lone (son of Ghulam Mohiuddin, resident of Satreseeran)
Under section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the action is specifically connected to case FIR No. 04/2008. This case encompasses charges under several laws, notably the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Meanwhile, these individuals are identified as involved in orchestrating terror activities from across the border.
“This attachment of properties follows thorough investigation and inquiry by the police, confirming their involvement in anti-national activities,” stated officials familiar with the matter.
