Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) hosted its annual Eid Milan at the India International Centre in New Delhi, bringing together nearly 350 guests from diverse sectors.
The event witnessed the participation of representatives from over 15 embassies, members of parliament, religious leaders from various faiths, civil society members, and leading professionals from politics, media, and academia, reflecting the program’s inclusive and interfaith spirit.
During the gathering, JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini delivered a keynote address, which he emphasized the vital role festivals play in uniting people and promoting social harmony.
Addressing the audience, he remarked, ‘Today, festivals are being misused to divide rather than unite,’ pointing out how the rise in communal tensions has clouded the spirit of celebration.
Against this backdrop, Syed Sadatullah Husaini strongly advocated that Eid and similar occasions must act as bridges of understanding and mutual respect, rather than becoming instruments of division in society.
A Message Of Togetherness
Reflecting on the diverse gathering, Husaini highlighted that the presence of people from various religious, ideological, and national backgrounds at the event demonstrated the unifying power of Eid.
He called for all communities to use such opportunities to work towards justice and mutual respect, stating, “Festivals should inspire collective action for fairness and peace across all segments of society.”
Condemning Injustice & Advocating For Rights
Speaking on current socio-political issues, Husaini criticized the Waqf Amendment Act, calling it discriminatory and unjust.
He urged nationwide unity in opposing the legislation, stating that laws based on religious bias threaten the foundational principles of democracy and equality.
Syed Sadatullah Husaini also voiced concern for the Palestinian people, denouncing the violence and injustice they face.
“The brutality in Palestine is not just a regional issue, it is a humanitarian crisis that demands a collective global response,” he said.
Building on this appeal, Syed Sadatullah Husaini encouraged embassies, international stakeholders, and Indian citizens to actively support peace initiatives and uphold the principles of human rights and justice on both national and international fronts.
Towards A Just & Peaceful Society
The Eid Milan event underlined JIH’s ongoing commitment to promoting social harmony, justice, and constructive dialogue.
Building on this message of unity, JIH President Syed Sadatullah Husaini concluded his address with a powerful reminder: “Working together for justice and peace is not a choice, it is a shared responsibility.”
