The Jharkhand High Court has delivered a significant verdict on the petition filed by Godda MP Nishikant Dubey and others. Justice Gautam Chaudhary, in the court’s ruling, declared that the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of any district in Jharkhand is no longer authorized to revoke property registries. Additionally, the court has directed the annulment of FIRs against individuals holding the deeds during the cancellation process. Advocates Prashant Pallav and Partha Jalan presented arguments on behalf of Nishikant Dubey in the Jharkhand High Court.
Former Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri had previously annulled the registry. Specifically, the registry of Godda BJP MP Nishikant Dubey was cancelled by the then DC, Manjunath Bhajantri, generating considerable discussion. Following the DC’s decision, MP Nishikant Dubey’s wife approached the Jharkhand High Court, where they received substantial relief.
It is noteworthy that in 2016, the department issued a letter granting the DC the authority to cancel fraudulently registered documents following an investigation.
