Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind Working Committee Concludes, Calls for Legal Action Against Guilty Police Personnel in Haldwani Firing

A significant session of the Working Committee of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind took place today at the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind office, presided over by Maulana Arshad Madani, the President of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind. The participants engaged in discussions covering various pressing issues affecting the nation, including the rise of communalism, escalating violence, law and order deterioration, discrimination against minorities and Muslims, safeguarding Waqf properties, and protection of places of worship.

The meeting expressed deep concern over communal campaigns targeting mosques and graveyards, violations of the Places of Worship Protection Act 1991, police firing in Haldwani, unilateral actions against Muslims, and Israel’s aggressive actions in Palestine. Resolutions were passed regarding the Gyanvapi Jama Masjid case and the Places of Worship Protection Act 1991. The committee criticized the handling of the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi case by the Supreme Court, which, despite its special powers, resulted in a decision perceived as bitter by the Muslim community.

Maulana Arshad Madani announced immediate financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for each victim of the Haldwani police firing and a total relief fund of Rs 25 lakh. Legal actions against the responsible police personnel are being pursued, and demands were made for government compensation to the affected families. The meeting also reviewed recommendations for the next term’s presidency, unanimously endorsing Maulana Arshad Madani.

In his presidential speech, Maulana Madani highlighted the unprecedented challenges facing the country, emphasizing the growing influence of communal and anarchic forces. He expressed disappointment with the current political and social situation, criticizing the government’s actions, which, in his view, indicate a decline in the rule of law in India. He urged for patience and tolerance in the face of provocations, particularly as communalism intensifies in the lead-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

Maulana Madani condemned the police brutality in Haldwani and called for appropriate compensation, government jobs, and legal actions for the affected families. He questioned the fairness of blaming victims for riots and violence. Expressing concern over religious discrimination in Haldwani, he warned of potential damage to communal harmony.

The meeting concluded with Maulana Madani expressing sorrow over the ongoing crisis in Palestine, urging Muslim countries to intervene. He emphasized that Muslims will not tolerate injustice, discriminatory behavior, or atrocities against any section of society. The session featured the participation of prominent members, including Maulana Abdul Aleem Farooqui, Mufti Syed Masoom Saqib, Maulana Syed Asjad Madani, and others.
