
Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, felicitated India’s top-ranking higher education institutions under NIRF 2025 at a ceremony held on 4 September 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Jamia Hamdard secured the No 1 rank in the ‘Pharmacy Category’, marking its continued dominance in the field.
The university also ranked No 1 in the same category in NIRF 2024. Since the launch of the National Institutional Ranking Framework in 2016, Jamia Hamdard has secured the top spot in Pharmacy seven times.
Institutions under NIRF are ranked based on parameters such as teaching and learning resources, research output, graduation outcomes, inclusivity, and overall perception.
Strong Overall Performance Across Categories
Besides leading in Pharmacy, Jamia Hamdard ranked 47th in the ‘University Category’, 74th in the ‘Overall Category’, 40th in ‘Medical’, and 87th in the ‘Management Category’.
The university is now among the top 50 institutions under the University category and within the top 100 in the Overall category.
In total, 14,163 institutions, considered for NIRF 2025 rankings across various categories. The sustained performance highlights the university’s consistent academic and research achievements.
Leadership Applauds Faculty and Staff
Janab Hammad Ahmed, the Chancellor, and Prof (Dr) M Afshar Alam, the Vice-Chancellor, congratulated the NIRF team and faculty.
Special appreciation extended to Prof (Dr) Uma Bhandari, Dean of the School of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, and key coordinators, including Prof (Dr) S Raisuddin and Prof (Dr) M Shahar Yar.
After receiving the trophy and certificate from the Union Minister, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Afshar Alam expressed satisfaction with the ranking. He emphasised the need to continue striving for excellence despite the increasing competition.
Prof Alam also thanked Chancellor Janab Hammad Ahmed for his continuous support, especially in advancing the university’s research ecosystem.
