The call came shortly after India issued a fresh advisory urging its citizens to avoid travel to Iran until further notice.
The Ministry of External Affairs cited ongoing developments and rising tensions as reasons for the renewed caution.
Earlier, on January 5, India had already advised against non-essential travel to Iran. The government has now reinforced that guidance as conditions continue to worsen.
The MEA advised Indian nationals and Persons of Indian Origin currently in Iran to remain alert.
Authorities asked them to avoid protest sites and demonstrations.
The advisory urged citizens to closely follow updates from the Indian Embassy in Tehran through official websites and social media channels.
The government also asked Indian residents in Iran to register with the embassy if they have not already done so.
Officials said registration would help authorities provide timely assistance if required.
Iran has witnessed violent protests across several cities. Security forces have imposed restrictions, and clashes have reportedly led to casualties.
The unrest has heightened concerns across the wider region.
The United States advised its citizens to leave Iran immediately.
The US Virtual Embassy warned that protests could escalate further and turn violent. It highlighted risks including arrests, injuries, internet disruptions, road closures, and flight cancellations.
The alert also noted that Iranian authorities have restricted access to communication networks.
Airlines have reduced or suspended flights, limiting exit options for foreign nationals.
