What first appeared to be a fatal road accident in Jaipur has now emerged as an alleged murder conspiracy.
Jaipur Police arrested seven people, including the victim’s 23-year-old daughter, for allegedly planning and executing the killing by making it appear as a road accident.
The incident took place on 4 July in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar area, where the woman was allegedly run over by a Scorpio SUV.
Investigators began probing the case after the victim’s brother filed a complaint claiming that her death was not accidental but part of a premeditated conspiracy.
During the investigation, police examined footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Investigators traced the Scorpio SUV allegedly used in the crime and detained several suspects for questioning.
Police claimed that the accused hired assailants for ₹7 lakh to carry out the murder.
Investigators also alleged that the conspirators monitored the victim’s movements for nearly a month before executing their plan.
Officers later recovered the abandoned Scorpio with damage that reportedly matched the incident.
According to the police, the victim’s daughter, Ayushi Sharma, allegedly confessed that she wanted to obtain her late father’s government job on compassionate grounds and take control of her mother’s property.
Investigators alleged that her mother refused to give up her job, prompting her to conspire with relatives and contract killers to eliminate her.
Police identified the seven accused as Ayushi Sharma, Mohit Sharma, Akash Sharma, Arvind Sharma, Hemant Sharma, Rohit Jatav, and Mohan Swaroop.
Police continue to investigate the case to uncover the full extent of the alleged conspiracy and determine whether any other individuals helped plan or facilitate the murder.
