ISRO To Launch ‘Space Tourism’ By 2030 At A Cost Of Rs. 6 Crore Per Passenger

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman S Somnath stated that work is ongoing on India’s own reusable and safe space tourism module.

The ISRO chairman added that space travelers will be able to visit space by 2030, giving a deadline for the space travel module. The trip is expected to cost around Rs 6 crore.

Mr. S Somnath said, “The average ticket cost will probably be approximately Rs 6 crore”.

“The journey will also allow participants to use the title ‘astronaut’,” he added.

When asked about the safety of the space trip, the ISRO chairman said that they are using the Reusable Launch Vehicle – Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD) to learn more about spaceflight safety.

“In addition to the Gaganyaan mission, we are learning from our Reusable Launch Vehicle – Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD). Because we are bringing space experience to the general public, we must ensure that these trips are extremely safe and that our technologies have passed safety clearances,” Somnath explained.

Top ISRO officials reported that progress on the government’s space tourism module is accelerating. They further stated that the tickets would be offered on the international market at fair prices.

A typical sub-orbital voyage lasts 15 minutes at the edge of space, followed by a brief period in low gravity before the spacecraft descends down to Earth.

Although the inclusion of orbital or sub-orbital space travel has not been confirmed, the module’s price tag of Rs. 6 crore suggests that sub-orbital space travel will most likely be included.
