‘Is worshiping daughters ‘nautanki’?: Shivraj Chouhan on Digvijaya Singh’s statement targeting him over Kanya Puja

Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, retaliated against Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday for the Congressman’s “nautanki” (drama) jab at the former’s Kanya Puja.

“Diggvijaya Singh ji referred to yesterday’s nationwide ‘kanya pujan’ as ‘natak-nautanki’. Individuals such as yourselves cannot stand the respect women receive. Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi, who are you assuming are worshiping our daughters as ‘nautanki’? Chouhan told news agency ANI that Congress ought to make its position clear on this.
Singh had criticized Chouhan on Monday for performing a “kanya puja” at his home on the final day of Navratri. “Avoid discussing the chief minister. I have never met a chief minister who is such a liar. Such a person has never been seen acting on stage. According to ANI, the former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh expressed fear of him, even PM Modi.

At the ‘kanya puja’ that Chouhan and his wife Sadhna Singh hosted on Monday at their Bhopal home, almost three hundred females showed up.

“These girls visited their mother’s house today. Not only are they my daughters, but I perceive goddesses in each of them. I considered them to be goddesses as I bathed their feet. According to ANI, he stated, “I want to send a message that daughters should be respected and given their appropriate position.”

The purpose of the nine-day Shardiya Navratri event is to honor Maa Durga and her nine incarnations, or Navdurga. In Sanskrit, Navratri means “nine nights.” There are four Navratris that Hindus celebrate each year. Dussehra, also known as Vijaya Dashami, is observed on the tenth day of Sharad Navratri.
