Iran’s Embassy in New Delhi has announced the opening of a condolence book in memory of the late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Imam Ali Khamenei, who was ‘martyred’ on February 28 during joint United States and Israeli airstrikes on Tehran.
Iranian state media described his death as martyrdom amid escalating regional conflict.
Khamenei, 86, had led the nation since 1989 and lost his life in the airstrikes along with several high-ranking officials and members of his family.
His passing has sparked days of national mourning across Iran, accompanied by public declarations of continued resistance and unity against what the government termed an act of aggression.
In response to the widespread grief, the embassy has invited members of the Indian public, the diplomatic community, and anyone wishing to express sympathy to visit and sign the condolence book.
This gesture allows people to offer personal messages and record their respects during this period of sorrow for Iran and the broader Muslim community.
The condolence book will be available for signing on Thursday, March 5, Friday, March 6, and Monday, March 9, between 10 AM and 12:30 PM, and 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
The embassy thanked all those sending messages of support during this difficult period.
Iranian diplomatic missions worldwide have set up similar condolence arrangements, underscoring global attention to Ayatollah Khamenei’s martyrdom and the Islamic Republic’s call for collective resolve.
The New Delhi initiative allows friends of Iran in India to actively participate in mourning and show solidarity, affirming their support for the nation during this challenging time.
