Union Home Minister Amit Shah took part in a large-scale yoga session at Prahlad Nagar Garden in Ahmedabad on Sunday, marking the 12th International Yoga Day. He joined citizens, students, and yoga practitioners who gathered early in the morning to perform a series of asanas and breathing exercises as part of nationwide celebrations.
The event reflected the broader observance across India, where millions participated in yoga programmes held at public spaces, institutions, and community venues.
The initiative aimed to promote physical fitness, mental stability, and holistic well-being through regular yoga practice.
In his message on X, Shah described yoga as India’s invaluable gift to humankind, stating that it nurtures overall wellness by energising the mind, body, and soul.

Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi also participated in the yoga session at Prahlad Nagar Garden alongside Amit Shah and hundreds of citizens. He engaged in various yoga postures and exercises, reinforcing the state’s commitment to promoting healthy living and wellness through yoga.
Organisers held yoga events across Gujarat in both urban centres and rural areas, and people of all ages participated in large numbers.
Ahmedabad hosted multiple programmes, with Prahlad Nagar Garden serving as a key venue for the morning session.
Officials organised the Gujarat state-level Yoga Day programme in Mansa in Gandhinagar district, where Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel joined the observance.
The theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’ guided this year’s International Yoga Day, and the campaign emphasised yoga’s role in maintaining lifelong physical fitness and mental well-being.
