IndiGo Airlines has cautiously resumed its flight operations to the Middle East after a temporary suspension prompted by escalating geopolitical tensions in the region.
The airline confirmed the development through an official update on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
IndiGo Announces Gradual Resumption of Flights
Taking to X, Indigo posted, “Travel Advisory: As airports across the Middle East gradually reopen, we are prudently and progressively resuming operations on these routes. We continue to monitor the situation closely and are fully considering the safest available flight paths to ensure secure and seamless travel.”

Earlier Suspension Covered Key Middle East Destinations
Earlier in the day, IndiGo had suspended multiple routes as a precautionary measure due to the volatile security situation in the Middle East.
The suspended destinations included: Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, Dammam, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Madinah, Fujairah, Jeddah, Muscat, Sharjah, Riyadh, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Tbilisi.
In its earlier statement, the airline explained, “Given the evolving situation in the Middle East, our flight operations to and from several destinations have been suspended at least until 1000hrs today. This decision was taken as a proactive safety measure.”

Tensions in the Middle East disrupt air travel
The temporary halt in operations followed recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, which heightened regional tensions and led to airspace restrictions affecting numerous international carriers.
In response, IndiGo and Air India had already issued advisories earlier this month warning passengers about possible delays and rerouting due to Iranian airspace closures.
Global airlines also adjusts routes
IndiGo is not alone in adapting to the situation. Several global carriers have rerouted or suspended services to and from Iran, Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, citing growing security risks.
Airlines continue to monitor the situation, prioritising passenger safety while coordinating with civil aviation authorities and regional partners.
As the Middle East situation remains fluid, IndiGo prioritises passenger and crew safety and makes all operational decisions with utmost caution.
