IndiGo and Air India cancelled flights to multiple northern and western airports for Tuesday, 13th May 2025.
The move comes amid heightened tensions along the India-Pakistan border, with safety concerns being prioritised for passengers and crew.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), IndiGo stated, “In light of the latest developments and with your safety as our utmost priority, flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot are cancelled for 13th May 2025.”

The airline acknowledged the disruption this may cause and assured passengers of full support, urging them to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
Air India Issues Parallel Advisory
Following suit, Air India issued a travel advisory suspending two-way flights on several routes.
Affected cities include Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot.

The airline reiterated that safety was its foremost concern and added that it is monitoring the situation in coordination with aviation authorities.
Air India had previously said it was preparing to gradually restart services to these locations after airport reopening notifications.
However, the sudden resurgence of cross-border tension forced a temporary halt.
Airports Reopen; Operations Remain Disrupted
Earlier, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed the reopening of 32 airports in northern and western India.
This followed a temporary closure that had been extended until May 15th due to security concerns.
These closures were prompted by security alerts and airspace risks related to the India-Pakistan standoff.
Despite the reopening, flight operations are being resumed cautiously, with airlines assessing each route based on prevailing security conditions.
Military Confirms Situation Under Control
Reports from the Indian Army indicate that the current situation is calm and under control.
Red streaks and explosions were observed in the Samba sector as India’s air defence intercepted a few Pakistani drones amid a blackout.
Army sources emphasised that only a limited number of drones had crossed into Indian airspace and that there was no cause for alarm.

Both IndiGo and Air India have assured passengers that their support teams are on standby to assist with rebooking and other travel needs.
