While other developing economies struggled with rising energy costs, India ensured stability by pursuing diversified sourcing.
Despite geopolitical instability in traditional oil routes, India’s demand remains steady.
The nation’s energy basket now includes supplies from Russia, the UAE, Iraq, and other non-Hormuz-dependent partners. Long-term agreements and robust reserves have added an extra layer of protection.
Focus expands beyond oil imports
The Modi government has also worked to reduce reliance on crude oil. Key investments in solar parks in Gujarat, wind energy in Rajasthan, green hydrogen projects, and ethanol blending have taken shape.
These initiatives are not isolated experiments. They form the foundation of a sustainable energy economy focused on self-reliance and environmental responsibility.
Exploration efforts within India are showing early success. New discoveries in Rajasthan and along the eastern coast point to India’s intent to tap domestic reserves while maintaining smart global partnerships. These efforts reflect a commitment to both growth and resilience.
India gains balance in global energy ties
India’s ties with the United States also remain crucial. Later this year, India may look again at the US oil and gas markets. However, it will do so from a position of strength, not dependence.
India’s energy and foreign policies now work in sync, turning the country into a key negotiator in global energy diplomacy.
As a result, energy security is no longer a distant aspiration. It is a present-day reality underpinned by foresight and execution.
The Modi government has not only safeguarded India’s immediate energy needs but has also laid a durable path toward long-term stability and sovereignty.
