India’s 75th Republic Day Parade: Women’s Empowerment, French Elegance, and More; List Of Jaw-Dropping Moments

This year’s theme for India’s Republic Day focused on ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka’.

India celebrated its 75th Republic Day in New Delhi on January 26, showcasing its military strength and cultural diversity. This year’s theme focused on ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka’, making the parade centered around women and featuring French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest.

Here are some key highlights from Republic Day 2024:

 

  1. Women-Led Parade: The parade began with 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments, a first in the history of Republic Day parades.

 

  1. All-Women Tri-Service Contingent: For the first time, an all-women tri-service contingent marched down Kartavya Path, and even the CAPF contingents included women personnel.

 

  1. Diverse Folk Dances: A group of 1,500 dancers under “Vande Bharatam-Nari Shakti” displayed 30 distinctive folk dance styles, promoting unity in diversity.

 

  1. Stunt Performance by Women Bikers: A display of bravery and determination featured 265 women on motorcycles from CRPF, BSF, and SSB showcasing various stunts.

 

  1. IAF Marching Contingent: The Indian Air Force contingent, led by squadron leader Rashmi Thakur, showcased their strength and motto ‘Nabh Sprisham Deeptam’.

 

  1. Traditional Flag Unfurling: The National Flag was unfurled with a 21-gun salute using indigenous 105-mm Indian Field Guns, accompanied by the National Anthem.

 

  1. Horsed Cavalry Regiment: The 61st Cavalry of the Indian Army, the world’s only serving horsed cavalry regiment, led the parade.

 

  1. Mechanised Columns Display: Displays included T-90 Bhishma tank, NAG missile systems, infantry combat vehicles, and other advanced military equipment.

 

  1. President’s Salute: President Droupadi Murmu took the salute as she arrived with Emmanuel Macron in a traditional buggy.

 

  1. French Air Force Participation: Two Rafale fighters and an Airbus A330 multi-role tanker transport aircraft from the French Air Force took part in the celebrations, concluding with a spectacular flypast by 46 aircraft of the Indian Air Force.
