Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced that India’s indigenously developed 4G technology stack is ready to be exported, underlining the country’s growing role in the international technology arena.
Speaking at the opening session of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, PM Modi stated that the achievement is a clear reflection of the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision and highlights the telecom sector’s transformation over the past ten years.
The Prime Minister remarked that 5G services have now reached nearly every district in the nation, a significant leap from earlier times when India faced challenges with 2G networks.
“The country has come a long way. Today, we have 5G coverage in every corner,” PM Modi asserted, stressing the importance of modern infrastructure in accelerating the country’s digital advancement.
The Prime Minister also drew attention to the installation of one lakh towers, which has caught the eye of the global community and demonstrated India’s capacity to develop extensive telecom infrastructure.
“The new 4G stack will likely provide faster internet speeds, more reliable services, and seamless connectivity, further strengthening India’s technological edge,” PM Modi remarked.
Manufacturing Sector Growth and Technological Progress
Highlighting achievements in the manufacturing sector, the Prime Minister noted that:
- Electronics production has multiplied six times since 2014,
- Mobile phone manufacturing has expanded 28-fold, and
- Exports have risen by 127 times
He credited startups and innovation as key drivers of this progress, noting that initiatives such as ‘Digital Innovation Square’ and the ‘Telecom Technology Development Fund’ are providing essential financial backing and support to nurture emerging ideas.
“India Mobile Congress has now become the largest digital technology forum in Asia, showcasing the country’s talent and innovation on a global stage,” he further added.
Reflecting on the nation’s digital transformation, he emphasised the need for a modern legal framework to keep pace with rapid technological changes and secure India’s digital future.
Finally, the Prime Minister attributed India’s telecom success to the population’s tax-conscious approach and the dynamism of the country’s youth, which together have propelled India to a leading position in global telecom and digital technology.
