On Saturday, the Civil Aviation Ministry announced that airline systems across Indian airports have returned to normal operation following a significant global Microsoft Windows outage that disrupted flight services.
According to the Ministry, as of 3 AM on Saturday, airline systems at airports across India have resumed normal functioning.
The outage caused a backlog of travel adjustments and refund processes, which the team is currently addressing.
The Ministry assured that flight operations have resumed smoothly and expects to resolve all issues by midday.
The widespread Windows outage on Friday caused major disruptions in airline services, affecting numerous carriers including IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air.
At Delhi Airport alone, Flightradar24 reported over 400 flight delays and more than 50 flight cancellations.
IndiGo, a major low-cost carrier, faced significant delays and cancellations.
In response, the airline set up war rooms at four major metro airports to manage and coordinate operations.
Other airlines, including Akasa and SpiceJet, also reported operational disruptions due to the technical issue.
Following the resolution of the technical difficulties, SpiceJet confirmed that its operations are now running smoothly.
The airline, along with others affected, is working to clear the backlog of affected flights and restore regular schedules.
The Civil Aviation Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely to ensure a smooth transition back to regular flight operations and to assist passengers impacted by the disruptions.
