The fourth edition of the India-US bilateral tri-service Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise, Tiger Triumph 2025, concluded on Friday with a high-profile Distinguished Visitors (DV) Day in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.
Tiger Triumph 2025 Enhances Bilateral Military Synergy
Conducted from April 1 to 11, the exercise focused on enhancing operational synergy, coordination, and interoperability between the Indian and US armed forces.
It enabled personnel from both countries to train jointly in HADR scenarios while familiarizing themselves with each other’s capabilities, procedures, and emerging technologies.
Distinguished Visitors Witness Complex Joint Operations
The DV Day attracted key dignitaries, including the Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area (FOTNA), the US Consular General, the Commander of US Navy Strike Group Five, and the Deputy General Officer Commanding of the 54th Infantry Division.
Attendees observed live demonstrations of complex joint operations such as:
- Standoff and hard beaching
- Slithering operations by special forces from SC and Mi17V5 helicopters
- Participation of C-130 aircraft
- Integrated air operations involving the Indian Navy, Army, Air Force, and the US Navy, Army, and Marine Corps
These operations showcased the high level of jointmanship and interoperability achieved between the two nations.
Visakhapatnam Hosts Harbour Phase
The harbor phase of the exercise took place in Visakhapatnam from April 1 to 7, beginning with an opening ceremony attended by Jorgan K Andrews, Chargé d’affaires at the US Embassy, and Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, Chief of Staff at Eastern Naval Command.
Activities during this phase included:
- Pre-sail conferences
- Subject-Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) on medical, drone, and space technologies
- Cross-deck visits and ship boarding drills
- Friendly sports fixtures between Indian and US personnel
Kakinada Hosts Sea Phase With Real-Time Operations
From April 8 to 11, the sea phase unfolded off the coast of Kakinada, featuring:
- Cross-deck aircraft landings
- Troop landings at Kakinada
- Active involvement of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)
A Combined Coordination Centre (CCC) coordinated large-scale joint operations, while a joint relief and medical camp—set up by India’s Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT) and their US counterparts—delivered essential services.
Strengthening Strategic Military Ties
Launched in 2019, Tiger Triumph is part of a broader initiative to deepen defense ties under the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA).
The exercise aims to strengthen interoperability and facilitate logistics cooperation and technology integration between India and the United States.
Tiger Triumph 2025 reaffirmed the shared commitment of both democracies to humanitarian cooperation and regional stability through coordinated disaster response efforts.
