In the wake of the attack, security forces have launched intensified counter-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir.
Army Chief Reviews Security On The Ground
Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi arrived in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday to assess the ground situation.
During his visit, he held strategic meetings with senior military commanders and state security officials.
He also met with the Lieutenant Governor of J&K and reviewed counter-terror strategies with the Director General of Police.
These high-level discussions focused on both immediate and long-term security enhancements.
Field Visits And Operational Briefings
General Dwivedi inspected key military installations, including the headquarters of Victor Force and 15 Corps.
Commanders provided him with in-depth briefings on the ongoing anti-terror operations.
The Army Chief’s visit highlighted India’s integrated approach to neutralising terrorist threats and dismantling the infrastructure supporting cross-border militancy.
India Suspends Indus Waters Treaty
In a bold diplomatic move, the Indian government announced the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty in direct response to the Pahalgam attack.
This treaty suspension will curtail water supplies from India to Pakistan, exerting considerable pressure on Islamabad.
India has made it clear that the treaty will remain suspended until Pakistan takes credible and verifiable action to curb terrorism on its soil.
Call For Greater Coordination
During his briefings, General Dwivedi emphasised the need for greater coordination among military, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies.
He outlined a strategy to secure long-term peace and stability in the region, reinforcing India’s commitment to defending its borders and safeguarding its citizens.
