India Condemns Pakistan Airstrike On Kabul Hospital; Calls It ‘Heinous Act’

India on Tuesday strongly condemned the airstrike carried out by Pakistan on a hospital and rehabilitation centre in Kabul, which reportedly killed more than 400 civilians and injured at least 250 others.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the attack as a ‘cowardly and unconscionable act of violence’ and accused Islamabad of attempting to portray a massacre as a legitimate military operation.

According to officials from the Taliban-led government, the strike targeted the 2,000-bed Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital at around 9 PM, causing widespread destruction and heavy casualties.

The MEA termed the strike a ‘heinous act of aggression’ and a blatant violation of Afghanistan’s sovereignty, warning that it poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability. It criticised Pakistan’s pattern of reckless behaviour and attempts to externalise internal challenges through cross-border violence.

India also condemned the timing of the attack during Ramadan, stressing that no moral, legal or religious justification exists for targeting a hospital and civilians.

India urged the international community to hold those responsible accountable and take immediate steps to prevent further attacks on civilians.

Expressing solidarity, it extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished a swift recovery to the injured, while reaffirming support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The incident, one of the deadliest in Kabul in recent years, risks escalating tensions further, with analysts warning that continued hostilities could deepen instability and heighten the need for urgent diplomatic efforts.
