India and Australia held the 13th Army-to-Army Staff Talks in New Delhi from September 28 to 30. The talks focused on strengthening defence cooperation and expanding military engagement across shared areas.

The Australian delegation visited the Centre for Land Warfare Studies (CLAWS) to discuss contemporary security issues. It paid homage to India’s fallen heroes at the National War Memorial.

The 13th India-Australia Army-to-Army Staff Talks were held in New Delhi from September 28 to 30, 2026. The talks reaffirmed the strong partnership and mutual trust between the two Armies.

The talks featured meaningful discussions on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation. They focused on expanding the scope and scale of engagement across areas of shared interest.

“The Australian delegation also visited CLAWS for discussions on contemporary security issues and paid homage to the fallen heroes at the National War Memorial,” the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) stated on X.

India’s High Commissioner to Australia Nagesh Singh met Indian and Australian officers. They are taking part in the fifth General Rawat India-Australia Young Officers Exchange Programme.

The Indian High Commission said 15 Indian officers are participating in the two-week programme alongside Australian Defence Force personnel.

Earlier this month, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan visited Australia and met Australian Navy Chief Vice Admiral Matthew Buckley. They discussed deepening maritime cooperation and expanding naval engagement through joint exercises in 2027.

Taking to X, the Indian Navy posted, “The two Chiefs reviewed the progress of bilateral naval cooperation and discussed avenues to further enhance interoperability and operational engagement, including through multiple exercise opportunities in 2027.”

“Adm Swaminathan, accompanied by VAdm Buckley, also paid homage at the Australian War Memorial, honouring the memory and sacrifice of those who served,” the post read.

Swaminathan later met Admiral Mark Hammond and Rear Admiral Anita William. They discussed maritime security, operational cooperation and opportunities to deepen interoperability across the maritime domain.
