Raghav Chadha Suspension Case
The Supreme Court has urged AAP MP Raghav Chadha to apologize to the Rajya Sabha chairman for his suspension from the house. The court has also requested the Rajya Sabha chairman to consider the apology sympathetically. During the hearing, it was suggested that Mr. Chadha would seek an appointment and apologize on record, which the Rajya Sabha Chairman should consider sympathetically.

Raghav Chadha was suspended from the Rajya Sabha on August 1 for a “breach of privilege” after being accused by four MPs of naming them in a House panel without their consent. The suspension was based on a resolution passed by the Upper House of Parliament, led by Piyush Goyal, until the privileges committee submits its findings.

It’s worth noting that Mr. Chadha is the second AAP MP to be suspended from the Rajya Sabha during the Monsoon session of Parliament, with senior leader Sanjay Singh also facing suspension on July 24. Mr. Chadha’s lawyer has indicated his willingness to meet the Rajya Sabha chairman and apologize in person, and the Solicitor General representing the Centre has supported this approach.

Both parties have been asked to provide an update on the progress of this matter to the court on November 20.
