In Gujarat’s Kheda district, at least five people are reported to have died after allegedly consuming an ayurvedic syrup, according to police. Three deaths have occurred in Bilodara village in the past two days, and it’s possible that the ayurvedic syrup that a nearby grocery store owner sold to the victims contributed to their deaths. The syrup was identified as “Kalmeghasav – Asava Arishta,” and Rajesh Gadhiya, superintendent of police, told a source that its allowed alcohol content was 12%.
He said that although a license is needed to produce Ayurvedic products, it is not needed to sell them. The police arrested the shopkeeper after giving almost fifty people the syrup.

A resident of the village of Bilodara, seven kilometers away, died on November 28 under mysterious circumstances. We are examining whether the consumption of syrup has a direct correlation with death, given the individual’s prior battle with cancer. According to the shopkeeper, he only sold the syrup to locals and not to outsiders, the police reported.
In addition, the father of the shopkeeper, who also happened to drink the syrup, has been admitted to the hospital for medical attention.

The connection between the death in Kheda district and another recent death that occurred under mysterious circumstances in Vadadala village of Mahemadabad taluka is being looked into.
