The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has expressed its appreciation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other key ministers for their swift response to the concerns raised over controversies surrounding the NEET UG examination. In a press release, the IMA welcomed the government’s decision to transfer the investigation into alleged irregularities in the NEET UG exams to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The association applauded the government’s action in removing the Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and appointing Shri Pradeep Kumar Kharoka as the new Director General. Furthermore, the IMA lauded the introduction of stringent laws aimed at combating malpractices and irregularities in competitive exams. These laws include provisions for penalties of up to 10 years of imprisonment and a minimum fine of Rs 1 crore for those involved in organized examination crimes.
“The current generation of students is the future of India, and it is imperative that crucial competitive examinations are conducted with the highest standards of diligence and confidentiality,” said the IMA. The association views the challenges faced by NEET PG students as part of necessary reforms initiated by the government and emphasized the need for a robust mechanism to ensure the integrity of future exams.
The IMA urged the government to expedite the counseling process for admissions into medical and dental courses to ensure timely commencement. It reiterated its strong support for the government’s initiatives and expressed optimism about a secure future for the next generation of students.
