‘I Am A Lifelong Student’: PM Modi Reflects On Lessons From 25 Years In Public Life

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said his eagerness to learn has remained a defining part of his life, describing himself as a lifelong student. He said continuous learning had strengthened his ability to serve the nation.

Key Takeaways

Addressing the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sabha’, PM Modi recalled his school days in Vadnagar and said his teachers used different approaches to teach lessons. He further remembered often being among the first students to reach class.

Reflecting on his journey, the Prime Minister said every experience had shaped his outlook. Success taught him humility, setbacks built resilience, well-wishers encouraged him, critics encouraged introspection, supporters showed the importance of trust, and opponents strengthened his understanding of democracy.

PM Modi said every crisis tested his patience, while every success increased his sense of responsibility towards the country. Achievements, he added, gave him the courage to pursue bigger goals.

“Every crisis has been a test of my patience, every success has deepened my sense of responsibility, and every achievement has given me the courage and determination to move towards bigger goals,” PM Modi said, adding that no experience in his life had been without a lesson. His remarks were met with chants of ‘Modi-Modi’.

Recalling key moments, PM Modi said the Morbi floods taught him lessons in relief and service, while the Bhuj earthquake strengthened his resolve towards reconstruction. Chandrayaan taught him to recover from failure, while the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of collective effort.

The Prime Minister credited the media, villages and poor citizens with influencing his approach to policymaking and described public trust and citizens’ hard work as his greatest strengths.

Thanking people for choosing him as their leader for 25 consecutive years, the Prime Minister said the trust placed in him and the experiences gained through that journey ultimately belonged to the nation and every child of Mother India.
