Amit Shah Meets Sadhguru
On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had a productive meeting with Jaggi Vasudev, Sadhguru, the founder of Isha Foundation based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The meeting focused on Indian spirituality and its transformative potential for societies.
Amit Shah shared his thoughts on the meeting via a tweet on the microblogging platform X, expressing his delight in meeting Sadhguru. He wrote, “Delighted to meet Shri @SadhguruJV Ji. Discussed Indian spirituality and its role in transforming societies.”

Sadhguru, known for his environmental advocacy, responded warmly to the Home Minister’s tweet. He expressed his pleasure in meeting Amit Shah and commended his engagement with India’s civilizational aspects. Sadhguru wrote, “Pleasure meeting Hon’ble Home Minister of Bharat. His engagement and interest in the civilizational aspects of our Nation is admirable.”
Sadhguru’s Environmental Initiatives
Sadhguru has long been an advocate for environmental sustainability. He has spearheaded initiatives such as Project GreenHands (PGH), Rally for Rivers, Cauvery Calling, and the global “Journey to Save Soil” campaign. His work aims to address critical environmental issues, particularly soil degradation.
Notably, in 2022, Sadhguru completed a 100-day motorcycle journey from London to India to promote awareness about soil health and the importance of organic farming.
In 2017, Sadhguru was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, for his efforts in spirituality and humanitarian services.
Amit Shah Meets With Swami Avdheshanand Giri
Earlier in the day, Amit Shah also met Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj, a renowned Hindu spiritual guru, writer, and philosopher. Swami Avdheshanand Giri is the current Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhara, the largest Akhara for Naga Sadhus in India.
In his post on X, the Home Minister spoke highly of the meeting, writing, “Met Junapithadheeswar Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj. Had a detailed discussion with him on various topics related to spirituality and national interest. Your role in spreading Indian knowledge tradition and philosophy in the world is commendable.”
