HM Amit Shah To Meet Families Of Drug Trade Opponents Killed In Punjab Visit

Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Punjab on Tuesday to meet families of people allegedly killed for opposing drug peddlers. The visit comes amid a political row over drug abuse and the AAP government’s alleged failure to curb it.

Shah will meet the bereaved families in Mansa, Sangrur and Gurdaspur, according to his announcement on X on Sunday.

The Home Minister accused the AAP government of worsening Punjab’s drug problem and said the crisis had forced numerous families to lose their children.

He expressed solidarity with the affected families and asserted that attempts to silence those opposing the drug trade would not succeed.

Shah said he believed the people of Punjab would respond strongly to the issue.

BJP leader Ravneet Singh Bittu welcomed Shah’s visit, calling for decisive action and stronger leadership to protect Punjab’s youth from drugs.

In a post on X, Bittu alleged that the AAP government had lost public support before completing its term. He urged Punjabis to support Shah’s efforts to make the state drug-free.

The BJP has intensified its criticism of the state government over drug abuse, making the issue a central point of political debate in Punjab.

Tuesday’s visit marks Shah’s second trip to Punjab within 20 days. He last visited the state on September 30, when he addressed an anti-drug rally in Jalandhar.

The visit has intensified debate over Punjab’s drug crisis. The BJP has urged stronger action against drug trafficking to protect the state’s youth.
