Union Home Minister Amit Shah will on Sunday begin an extensive series of visits to four states — Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala — as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s preparations for the Assembly elections scheduled next year.
The fortnight-long tour aims to strengthen the party’s political and organisational strategy in the poll-bound states.
Party sources said the visit follows the BJP-led NDA’s recent victory in the Bihar Assembly elections and seeks to replicate that success in other regions.
“After the Bihar Assembly election victory, HM Shah has outlined a major strategy for the Assembly elections next year in four states — Assam, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu,” a senior BJP leader said.
State-wise Tour Plan
As per the party’s organisational unit, Amit Shah will visit Assam on December 28 and 29, followed by West Bengal on December 30 and 31.
He will visit Tamil Nadu in the first week of January and Kerala in the second week.
The Home Minister plans to spend at least two days every month in each of these states until the elections conclude.
Three of the four states — West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu — have non-NDA governments, making these visits crucial for expanding the BJP’s political footprint.
During his visits, HM Shah will focus on energising Panna Pramukhs and ensuring effective execution of the party’s flagship organisational initiative, ‘Mera Booth Sabse Majboot’.
He is scheduled to hold a series of organisational meetings and interact directly with party workers at various levels to strengthen booth-level mobilisation.
Sources said the Home Minister will also review preparedness, assess organisational gaps and provide clear directives for campaign execution in each state.
Replicating the Bihar Model
BJP insiders revealed that Amit Shah is keen to replicate the NDA’s decisive Bihar victory, achieved despite what the party described as a misinformation campaign by the Mahagathbandhan on issues such as the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Shah has emerged as the chief strategist behind several NDA electoral victories, crafting state-specific strategies centred on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Apart from coordination with NDA allies, Shah’s strategy includes engaging with party rebels and dissidents to prevent vote-splitting.
During the Bihar elections, he reportedly met nearly 100 rebels individually to address grievances and ensure unity. A similar approach is expected during the upcoming visits.
The Home Minister’s tour will also involve gauging public sentiment, identifying pressing local issues and preparing counter-narratives to opposition attacks.
The BJP is working on strategies to counter what it calls the ‘politics of falsehood’ on issues such as rural employment schemes, SIR, employment rates and other socio-economic matters.
Party leaders believe that Shah’s sustained engagement will play a key role in shaping the BJP’s electoral prospects in these crucial states.
