HM Amit Shah Switches From Gmail To Homegrown Zoho Mail

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has moved his official email from Gmail to Zoho Mail, highlighting a preference for India’s domestic digital platforms.

Zoho, developed locally, is increasingly popular nationwide for its secure and efficient office tools.

Amit Shah shared the update on his social media platform, informing the public about the change.

Taking to X, he posted, “Hello everyone, I have switched to Zoho Mail. Kindly note the change in my email address. My new email address is amitshah.bjp @ zohomail.in. For future correspondence via mail, kindly use this address. Thank you for your kind attention to this matter.”

Zoho Boosts Digital Self-Reliance

Zoho’s growth mirrors India’s larger push for digital independence, supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.

This India-developed platform is being increasingly used by government officials and organisations.

These are now becoming alternatives to global services like Gmail, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Meanwhile, Union Railways and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw also moved to Zoho Mail.

They praised it as a reliable platform for handling documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

“I am moving to Zoho, our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets & presentations,” Vaishnaw said, encouraging citizens and officials to adopt indigenous products and services.

The Education Ministry has implemented a directive requiring all officials to utilise the Zoho Office Suite for official operations.

Staff are to transition from foreign software to Zoho Writer, Zoho Sheet and Zoho Show for creating, editing and sharing documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

The ministry has also asked government officials to familiarise themselves with the Zoho platform.

It also provides dedicated support through the NIC’s CMIS division.

Chennai-based Sridhar Vembu’s Zoho has steadily transformed India’s technology sector.

Its globally recognised suite of tools demonstrates that indigenous software can successfully support contemporary business operations and government functions.

The move by senior government officials to Zoho Mail highlights rising trust in homegrown technology and supports the government’s drive for a self-reliant digital ecosystem, encouraging citizens and staff to adopt domestic innovations.
