Nitish Kumar To Be Sworn In For Tenth Term As Bihar CM; PM Modi To Attend Ceremony

JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar will take oath as Chief Minister for the tenth time at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan on Thursday at 11.30 AM.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior NDA leaders will attend the swearing-in ceremony, which is likely to be one of Bihar’s largest political gatherings in recent years.

The event will bring together some of the country’s most prominent political figures.

Apart from Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP President JP Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will attend.

Their participation underscores the political importance of Nitish Kumar’s renewed mandate and the NDA’s strengthened position in Bihar.

Security and Preparations

Authorities have implemented comprehensive security arrangements in anticipation of the large turnout.

More than three lakh people are to gather at Gandhi Maidan.

Authorities have deployed additional police forces, installed surveillance systems, and stationed emergency medical services to ensure public safety and the smooth conduct of the ceremony.

Nitish Kumar resigned on Wednesday to pave the way for the formation of a new NDA-led government.

During his visit to Raj Bhavan, he was accompanied by Union Minister Chirag Paswan, RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha, and Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

Following his resignation, NDA legislators unanimously elected Nitish as their leader.

They chose Samrat Choudhary as the BJP legislature party leader, while they named Vijay Kumar Sinha as his deputy.

Maurya, serving as the BJP’s central observer, played a key role in the leadership deliberations.

Likely Cabinet Composition

Several leaders from both JD(U) and BJP are expected to join the new Cabinet.

JD(U) is likely to induct Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Shrawan Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Lesi Singh, Sheila Mandal, Madan Sahni, Ratnesh Sada, Mohammad Zama Khan, Jayant Raj, Umesh Singh Kushwaha, and Ashok Choudhary.

From the BJP, potential ministers include Samrat Choudhary, Prem Kumar, Mangal Pandey, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Nitish Mishra, Renu Devi, Jibesh Kumar, Neeraj Kumar Singh, Janak Ram, Hari Sahni, Kedar Prasad Gupta, Surendra Mehta, Santosh Kumar Singh, Sunil Kumar, and Motil Lal Prasad.

Nitish Kumar’s four-decade political career is defined by strategic alliances, ideological pivots, and decisive leadership.

From his early years with Lalu Prasad Yadav to multiple shifts between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan, Nitish has demonstrated remarkable political adaptability.

Moreover, His governance record, administrative experience, and tactical manoeuvring have enabled him to remain one of India’s most enduring political figures.

As he prepares to take the oath for the tenth time, Nitish Kumar once again positions himself at the centre of Bihar’s political landscape, backed by a reinvigorated NDA and a renewed sense of political momentum.
