Earlier Meeting

Earlier, on February 22, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho, had met the Home Minister to deliberate on key matters, including the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons impacted by ethnic unrest.

Officials noted that, during that meeting, the Home Minister evaluated steps taken by the newly formed state government to bridge community divides and restore stability.

The Home Minister conducted the discussions at his residence in New Delhi.

Since the BJP-led coalition government assumed office in Manipur, the administration has introduced several outreach programmes focused on promoting reconciliation, trust, and long-term peace among communities.

During the earlier meeting, Amit Shah assured the state leadership of full cooperation from the Centre to bring back normalcy and reaffirmed commitment to the state’s development. He also highlighted the need to prioritise the rehabilitation of displaced individuals and pledged comprehensive assistance in addressing the issue.

This visit marks the third occasion that Yumnam Khemchand Singh has travelled to New Delhi since taking office on February 4.

During previous visits, he held separate discussions with Droupadi Murmu, Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

These meetings mainly focused on rehabilitating those affected by violence and advancing efforts to restore peace and stability in Manipur.
