HM Amit Shah Prays At Padmanabhaswamy Temple; Signals BJP’s Kerala Power Play

Union Home Minister HM Amit Shah, on January 11, 2026, combined faith with politics during his visit to the historic Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, marking a symbolic start to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s intensified push in Kerala.

HM Amit Shah performed pooja at the revered temple and prayed for the nation’s peace and prosperity, underscoring a message of cultural continuity and national well-being.

HM Amit Shah shared glimpses of the temple visit through a post crafted in both English and Malayalam, a deliberate outreach aimed at connecting with Kerala’s local audience.

By communicating in the state’s language, he signalled respect for regional identity while reinforcing the BJP’s intent to deepen its grassroots presence.

The temple visit formed a key moment in HM Amit Shah’s two-day Kerala tour, which effectively launched the BJP’s “Mission 2026” campaign for the next Assembly elections.

Through a carefully structured political narrative, he positioned faith, governance, and accountability as the pillars of the party’s Kerala strategy.

Faith, Strategy & Mission 2026

During his engagements, HM Amit Shah outlined a three-point agenda designed to resonate strongly with Hindu voters. Central to this was a call for a neutral and transparent investigation into the alleged Sabarimala gold theft, an issue he said demands clarity and justice.

He framed the demand as a matter of accountability rather than confrontation, seeking to contrast the BJP’s stance with that of the ruling Left Democratic Front and the Congress-led United Democratic Front.

HM Amit Shah expressed confidence in the BJP’s expanding electoral footprint in Kerala. He pointed to the party’s vote share of 12.35 per cent in the 2021 Assembly elections and projected a sharp rise to between 20 and 40 per cent in 2026.

He argued that this upward trajectory reflects growing public trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the BJP’s governance model.

Positioning the BJP as a credible alternative to decades of LDF-UDF dominance, HM Amit Shah said the party now stands on the threshold of history.

He asserted that sustained organisational work, ideological clarity, and voter engagement could pave the way for Kerala’s first BJP Chief Minister.

By blending religious symbolism with political resolve, HM Amit Shah sent a clear message from Thiruvananthapuram: the BJP views Kerala not as a distant frontier, but as the next major battleground in its national expansion.
