HM Amit Shah Offers Prayers At Ahmedabad’s Jagannath Temple; To Attend Key Meetings In Gandhinagar

Union Home Minister Amit Shah commenced his Gujarat tour in the early hours of Friday, 27 June, by participating in the Mangala Aarti at the revered Shri Jagannathji Temple located in Jamalpur, Ahmedabad.

The visit coincides with the annual Rath Yatra festival, a prominent spiritual event in Gujarat that draws lakhs of devotees to witness the ceremonial chariot procession of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra.

Arriving at the temple at 3:15 AM, Shah took part in the sacred rituals and paid homage to Mahaprabhu Jagannath.

He later shared his sentiments on social media platform X, stating, “On the sacred occasion of Rath Yatra, participating in the Mangla Aarti at Shri Jagannath Temple, Ahmedabad, is in itself a divine and extraordinary experience. Today, I joined the Mangla Aarti of Mahaprabhu and offered my prayers. May Mahaprabhu continue to bestow His blessings on all.”

Significance of Rath Yatra

The Jagannath Rath Yatra is one of Gujarat’s most important religious festivals, featuring a grand procession through the streets of Ahmedabad.

In light of the large gatherings expected, local authorities have deployed comprehensive security measures to ensure the yatra proceeds peacefully and efficiently.

Key meetings in Gandhinagar

Following the temple visit, Shah is scheduled to attend two major events in Gandhinagar later in the day.

At 3:30 PM, he will visit the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre to chair a review meeting focused on the advancement and digitisation of libraries.

This initiative forms part of the Centre’s efforts to modernise educational and research infrastructure across India.

Later at 4:15 PM, the Union Home Minister will attend the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC) meeting at Circuit House, Sector-20.

The agenda includes reviewing the implementation status of central government schemes and improving coordination among district-level officers to enhance governance and service delivery.

HM Shah’s visit aligns with the dual purpose of spiritual engagement and administrative review.

By blending devotion with developmental focus, the Home Minister’s schedule reflects the Centre’s commitment to both cultural heritage and policy implementation.
